Embodying the spirit of social responsibility and humanitarian service, Om Samaj Dental Hospital has held free health and dental check-up camps at two different locations on the same day. Hundreds of people have benefited from the camps organized by the Budhanilkantha Social Youth Club in the Budhanilkantha area and at Chabahil Chowk, which are regularly held on the third week of every month.
The chief guest of the camp organized in Budhanilkantha was Mr. Indra Kumar Bhusal, central member of the Communist Party of Nepal and former candidate of Kathmandu Constituency No. 4. Representatives of various political parties, social workers, intellectuals, local leaders and the general public were present at the program. The camp management was led by Om Samaj’s camp manager Dhan Prasad Ghimire.
A team of expert doctors and health workers provided dental check-ups, oral health consultations and necessary suggestions at the camp. Local residents responded positively to the program organized with the aim of directly providing services to citizens who are far from access to health services.
Addressing the program, Sandeep Shrestha, President of Budhanilkantha Social Youth Club, said that every citizen of the society should have easy access to health services. He said, “We want to protect the mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters living in our society from dental problems. We have organized a free health camp in collaboration with Om Samaj Dental Hospital with the aim that no one should suffer due to lack of basic treatment.”
The working committee of Budhanilkantha Social Youth Club consists of President Sandeep Shrestha, Vice President Sameer Shrestha, Secretary Prashant Shrestha, Joint Secretary Ayush Giri, Treasurer Sanskar Ban and members Manish Shrestha, Kripa K.C., Sudeep B.K., Sabin Shrestha, Sujal Khadka and Ashna Magar. The organizer stated that the program was successfully completed with the active participation of all the office bearers and members of the club.
A speaker present at the program praised Om Samaj Dental Hospital and said, “Today there are many hospitals, but there are few institutions that can stay in the hearts of the people. Om Samaj Dental Hospital is a hospital that has succeeded in staying in the hearts of people from the street to the parliament. It has created a distinct identity with its service spirit, trust and continuous dedication.”
Meanwhile, there was also a significant participation in the regular free health and dental camp that is being conducted in the third week of every month at Chabahil Chowk. Santoshiji has been managing the entire camp. The service recipients who came to the camp received necessary health consultations along with dental check-ups.
Santoshiji said, “The hope and trust seen on the faces of the service recipients when we conduct the camp at Chabahil Chowk in the third week of every month gives us more energy. Some senior citizens come in the hope of treatment, while some receive free health services for the first time. Their happiness and blessings are our greatest reward. We are dedicated to continuous service with the belief that there is no greater religion than serving humanity.”
During the program, Om Samaj Dental Hospital’s Board of Directors Vice Chairman and social personality Rameshwor Jung KC said that healthcare is not just a business but a service to humanity. He said, “Many citizens of the society cannot even get basic dental treatment due to financial constraints. Feeling that pain firsthand, we are trying to extend the hospital’s services to villages and communities. Our desire is that no mother’s smile should be lost due to pain, no father should suffer due to lack of treatment, and no child should have their future affected due to simple health problems. It is our duty to return the love and trust given by the society through service.” Om Samaj Dental Hospital has been regularly conducting health and dental camps in collaboration with various social organizations, youth clubs, schools and local bodies for a long time. The hospital has stated that it has continued its campaign to extend healthcare services to the community, not just within the hospital. According to social activist journalist Rajan Thapa, “Today, society needs service, not speeches. An institution that supports the suffering of the people, reaches out to citizens who do not have access to treatment, and establishes humanity through action is the real asset of society. Om Samaj Dental Hospital has presented a strong example of social service by winning public trust through health services.”
